Vertical adventures
Are you looking for something more adventurous than hiking but don't want to stray from marked routes? Check out the via ferratas in the Innsbruck region. They lead over rocky terrain with climbing aids such as iron ladders or steel cables to hold on to. They often open up rough terrain while providing wonderful views of the mountains. The Innsbruck region is home to numerous via ferrata routes. You can find the difficulty level of each route and other important information in the detailed entries.
Wank Via Ferrata
Beautiful, scenic via ferrata in the Mieminger mountains, which runs mainly along the ridge. The Wankspitze 2209 m has green, gentle slopes on the south side and steep rugged rock faces on the north side. The via ferrata leads in a varied way up the ridge from the Stöttltörl 2036 m to the Wankspitze 2209 m. On the ridge all the peaks are climbed over. The constant ups and downs require fitness and strength, and together with the ascent to the Lehnberghaus, the scenic, wild basin between Hölltörl, Grünsteinscharte and Stöttltörl, the summit with its magnificent views, this is a worthwhile tour. Refreshment and overnight accommodation is available in the private Lehnberghaus, www.lehnberghaus.at.
