A partir de Oberbach, situado a 1.417 metros, el camino hasta el refugio Solenalm (1.643 m, sin servicio de restauración) es muy empinado. Aquí hay unas vistas espectaculares sobre las cumbres Erlspitze y Solstein.
Continuar dirección norte por encima del valle Erltal, cruzar el arroyo y seguir dirección nordeste hasta llegar al refugio que ya se divisa a lo lejos.
