Tour of the Alps 2021: Stage start

mar., 20.04.2021 10:15
Vorplatz Tiroler Landestheater

The second stage can confidently be called a "two-part" stage: On the first 50, mostly flat kilometres, the riders have the opportunity to get their legs up to temperature before they have to master no less than 2,500 metres of altitude on the second part of the stage. The first uneven section leads to the hometown of Austrian ski star Benjamin Raich, the village of Arzl in the Pitztal valley.

A short descent is followed by the climb to the Piller Sattel, where important points for the GPM ranking are up for grabs. After that, the highlight of the second stage awaits with the second ascent to the Piller Sattel - this time via the far more demanding route from Fließ. The last 21 kilometres are alternately uphill and downhill, with the most difficult part six to three kilometres before the end: The riders have to get over a ramp with a maximum gradient of more than twelve percent before they cross the finish line in Feichten in Kaunertal.

No spectators are allowed in the finish area.
