De "Akademikersteig" is een gemakkelijk begaanbaar bospad, dat in ongeveer een uur van Götzens naar Birgitz leidt (of omgekeerd). In Götzens buigt het onderaan de supermarkt M-Preis af en biedt in het begin een mooi uitzicht op de burchtruïne Vellenberg. De bosweg eindigt in Birgitz op de straat, die dan rechtdoor naar het zuiden in het dorpscentrum leidt.
Kort voordat u het bos verlaat, kunt u afslaan naar de opgravingsplek "Hohe Birga". Deze bereikt u in vijf minuten. Een bezienswaardige omweg, evenals het rhetoromaans museum in het dorpscentrum van Birgitz.
