Scroll

22 TO 30 SEPTEMBER 2018

The UCI Road World Championships 2018 are history and have left us with a World Champion from Tyrol, contented athletes who like to look back on the superb atmosphere along the race courses and excellent praise from the many international guests for the perfect organisation of the event.

The success of these World Championships confirmed Innsbruck's status as the sports city of the Alps and clearly demonstrated that the city is also capable of hosting top-class sports events in summer. 600,000 enthusiastic fans cheered on their favourites along the various routes during the nine-day World Championships and experienced world-class sporting achievements up close.
The exuberant festive atmosphere and the perfect organisation received high praise, as did the many fans in Innsbruck, for example from Belgian double Junior World Champion Remco Evenepoel: "Innsbruck-Tyrol will always have a place in my heart. Not only because of the two titles I won here, but also because of the sensational atmosphere during the races. The fans were just incredible."

With 965 athletes from 77 nations, TV coverage in 150 countries, race courses covering total of 1,100 km and almost 1,500 volunteers, the 2018 Road World Championships were the largest sporting event ever held in summer in Tyrol.
