Forecast

We will experience typical foehn weather conditions today. The sky will be mostly bright with some mountain peaks being shrouded in “foehn fish clouds” (in technical jargon: “Altocumulus lenticularis”). The wind will be gusty at times in the valleys and temperatures will of course be warm.

Tendency

The next few days will bring nice and dry weather with a few bands of clouds passing over our region at times. The temperatures will continue to rise.

Innsbruck in minutes

Tips for a short visit in Innsbruck

Do you have a bit of spare time during a stopover at Innsbruck Airport or between trains? If so, why not take a quick look around the city and enjoy a glimpse of beautiful Innsbruck? The city centre is a ten minute walk from the train station or a 12 minute bus ride from the airport on the F bus.

Stroll through the pedestrian zone on Maria Theresien Street with its historic buildings and shops. Or wander into the historic old town and admire the Golden Roof, the Imperial Palace and the Inn Bridge. The Nordkette mountains tower up behind the Golden Roof to an altitude of 2,300 metres above sea level, creating a very special city skyline. The cable car ride up to the summit can always be something you save for your next trip. This time, simply enjoy the impressive combination of city and mountains!

Your first impression of Innsbruck

Stand in the middle of Maria Theresien Street, the pedestrian zone in the centre of Innsbruck, and enjoy the magnificent view to the north.

THAT is Innsbruck – city and mountains in one. If you only have an hour in Innsbruck, you've still got plenty of time to stroll along Maria Theresien Street and admire the new Kaufhaus Tyrol shopping centre and the interesting contemporary architecture in the Rathausgalerien shopping centre.

It is also well worth taking a walk through the historic old town and maybe even enjoying an espresso at one of the lovely street cafes. Finally, wander over to the Golden Roof and then continue north to the edge of the old town.

This brings you to the River Inn, which gave Innsbruck its name. From the edge of the river, you can look across the water to the oldest district in Innsbruck, St. Nikolaus, with its colourful medieval houses. The mountain backdrop, the Inn sparkling in the sun and the historic buildings of the old town make this the perfect place for a last photo.
