The Karwendel, covering some 920 square kilometres, is one of the largest natural landscapes to be found in central Europe. It is mainly alpine in character and still in perfect harmony with centuries of rural farming tradition. This nature reserve combines the thrill of impressive scenery set in almost untouched natural countryside with a rare symbiosis of diverse fauna and flora.
The holiday village Rum make the ideal starting point for numerous walks and hikes in the Karwendel nature reserve.
