Are you looking for a particular song or a specific piece of music? Do you have handwritten song books, self-recorded cassettes or other material? The Folk Music Archive has been documenting musical folk culture in Tyrol for over 100 years and is therefore the central institution in North, East and South Tyrol for the collection and research of folk songs and music. The archive is responsible for archiving, documenting and relaying the materials.

In addition to extensive written materials and sheet music dating from the 17th century to the present day, the Folk Music Archive also holds over 10,000 sound recordings from field research. The archive is home to a small library where it is possible to research song books, sheet music and specialist literature on the topics of folk song and folk music. The archive acts as a service point and we are happy to help with enquiries.
