La penúltima etapa empieza por el camino nº 149 que lleva a brecha Mittertaler Scharte seguido por el descenso por el valle Mittertal hasta el refugio Dortmunder Hütte a 1.950 metros.
Esta difícil etapa de la ruta tiene un desnivel positivo de 500 metros y un desnivel negativo de 700 metros. Tiempo a pie: mínimo 4 horas
Otra entrada a la ruta: por la carretera nacional 13 dirección Innsbruck o desde la carretera nacional 237 ir dirección Ochsengarten al refugio Dortmunder Hütte en Kühtai. Con el autobús regional línea 4166 de Innsbruck a Kühtai.
