Las excavaciones "alta Birga" están siempre abiertas.

Excavaciones arqueológicas "Hohe Birga" En el "Hohe Birga" en Birgitz se halla el único campo de excavaciones arqueológicas al aire libre de la región de Innsbruck. Situado a unos 500 m en línea recta del centro de Birgitz, es fácilmente accesible a pie en unos 20 minutos. Hace más de 2000 años, en lo alto de la colina "Hohe Birga" y bien protegido, se hallaba un asentamiento de Recias. Los Recia se habían instalado en el espacio alpino hacía finales del siglo 6 a. C. En el siglo XV a. C. los romanos empezaron a conquistar los Alpes y se supone que la ocupación militar romana de Tirol del Norte conllevó la destrucción del asentamiento de "Hohe Birga". Actualmente se distinguen claramente tres terrazas creadas artificialmente para ganar espacio para el asentamiento. La colina alberga muchos restos de las edificaciones originales, dos de las cuales fueron excavadas por la Universidad de Innsbruck en los últimos años. Las excavaciones han permitido la recuperación de objetos de cerámica, joyas y herramientas de metal, así como objetos de vidrio y hueso.
