Route naar het startpunt
De klim naar de Hohe Munde verloopt vanaf de parkeerplaats Straßberg op een bospad langs de slagboom naar het Straßberghaus. Buigt u bij de splitsing direct voor de hut af naar rechts en volg het Hintereggensteig. Verder steil omhoog tot een volgende kruising wandelen. Hier rechtsaf slaan en op een pad met veel haarspeldbochten door dichte kruipdennen naar de Niedere Munde (2.059 m.) wandelen.
Vanaf daar gaat het richting het oosten over twee heuvels met kruipdennen en een langgerekte bergrug in de richting van de top. Daarna verder door het Rauhe Tal, waar u enkele met draadkabels beveiligde klimpassages (geen hoogtevrees is een vereiste) moet overwinnen. U bereikt de massieve top en het kruis op de top aan de westkant (2.662 m.). Vanaf de westtop volgt u het gemarkeerde pad over een trapsgewijs terrein oostwaarts in een dal. Na een korte tegenklim volgt een vlak plateau op de oosttop (2.592 m.). Dan over de steile oostflank van de berg omlaag naar de Rauthhütte.
De afdaling vanaf de hut verloopt over een pad met wortels door het bos tot de parkeerplaats Buchner Höhe of op de bosweg naar de parkeerplaats Rauthhütte/Mundestadl.
Tips | opmerkingen: tocht naar de top, ruim voldoende drinken meenemen (geen waterpunten), tredzekerheid en geen last van hoogtevrees noodzakelijk. Bergwandelgids aangeraden!
Voor de start van de wandeling dient een tweede auto op de parkeerplaats Buchner Höhe of parkeerplaats Rauthhütte/Mundestadl gezet te worden, waarmee u aan het eind van de tocht terug naar het uitgangspunt bij de parkeerplaats Straßberghaus kunt rijden.
