De Hochtennboden is een groot grasplateau waar 's zomers schapen grazen en een rustieke tafel met banken uitnodigt tot vertoeven. Vooral gezinnen met kinderen houden van deze gemakkelijke wandelroute midden in het machtige Kalkkögelgebergte, waar ze ook alle ruimte hebben om rond te rennen.

Eerst gaat u met de comfortabele Olympische kabelbaan omhoog naar het zonneplateau Hoadl. Vanuit de kabelbaan zie je het weelderige, diepgroene plateau met zijn vele schapen al liggen. Op de top slaat u linksaf en volgt u de skipiste tot aan het Hoadl-zadel. Daar volgt u het pad naar links (zie wegwijzer Hochtennboden/Hochtennspitze) en stijgt u naar Hochtennboden. - 111 hoogtemeters, wandeltijd ca. ½ uur.
