A Summer Weekend by the River

Finally the summer weather we had been waiting for here in Innsbruck has arrived. Hot, sunny, gorgeous conditions made it the perfect weekend for Airport Reef to once again become one of the city’s most exciting places to spend time outdoors. From 21 to 24 May 2026, Up Stream Surfing returned with a full weekend of music, surfing, food and community events directly along the banks of the Inn.

What made the event special was the atmosphere. Airport Reef combined the feeling of a beach getaway with Innsbruck’s mountain scenery, creating a unique meeting point for locals, visitors, surfers and music lovers. Throughout the weekend, guests relaxed by the river, enjoyed sunset sessions, listened to electronic music and took part in a variety of outdoor activities in a laid-back open-air setting.

Sunset Sessions and Riverside Vibes

The opening began on Thursday evening with a relaxed surf and sunset session featuring chilled music, drinks and summer vibes at the riverbar. As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, the beach transformed into a gathering place for friends, music and the first warm nights of the season.

Across the entire weekend, Airport Reef offered much more than music alone. Surf sessions, beach activities, coffee stands, ice cream, riverside bars and open chill spaces created a festival atmosphere that felt both relaxed and distinctly Innsbruck.

Friday Take Over

Friday brought one of the weekend’s highlights as the Innsbruck-based music collective “418 Days of Primary Care” hosted a special open-air rave at Airport Reef. Curated by the Primary Care Allstars, the event took guests on a musical journey that started with warm daytime grooves and gradually built into heavier evening sounds.

With DJs including DUOSTOP, ANDIAMO, MASTUR_BABE, MILHAHN and TORNARDO, visitors experienced an energetic sunset dancefloor directly beside the river. Food stands serving vegan currywurst and fries kept the crowd fueled throughout the evening before the celebration continued later at the official afterparty.

Weekend Inspiration

On Sunday, the weekend closed with “Reiserummelplatz” by Journey Jam, transforming Airport Reef into a travel-inspired playground filled with food from around the world, workshops, inspiration and stories designed to spark future adventures. The event created a relaxed and welcoming space where people exchanged ideas, met new travel companions and enjoyed one final day by the river before the new week began.

Innsbruck Summer Experience

At the heart of the event was a strong sense of openness and inclusivity. The organizers placed great importance on creating a respectful environment where everyone felt welcome while encouraging visitors to arrive by public transport or bicycle whenever possible.

For everyone who visited Innsbruck during the weekend, Up Stream Surfing offered the perfect opportunity to experience the city’s outdoor culture at its best — surrounded by mountains, music and summer energy directly on the banks of the Inn.
