Gamers Heaven – Tyrol’s First Gaming Festival

The gaming community of Tyrol came together in full force at the inaugural Gamers Heaven festival on September 21-22, 2024, held at the SportZentrum in Telfs. Over the weekend, the venue transformed into a vibrant hub of digital and analog gaming, attracting enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. With more than 2,000 square meters dedicated to gaming of all kinds, this event truly lived up to its promise as a paradise for gamers.

From indie video games to retro classics, board games to tabletops, and even pen-and-paper role-playing games, Gamer’s Heaven had it all. Attendees were treated to a diverse array of gaming experiences, where hardcore gamers, casual players, and even those just curious could immerse themselves in a wide spectrum of interactive entertainment. Lately my best friend has been debating trying out Dungeons and Dragons, so of course she was pumped to find an introduction to D&D on the event plan! This event had everything! The festival wasn’t limited to digital realms either—tabletop and board games offered hands-on, face-to-face fun, while the vibrant cosplay scene added a splash of creativity and character to the event.

One of the most colorful and celebrated aspects of the weekend was the cosplay community. Participants dressed as their favorite gaming, anime, and pop-culture icons, filling the venue with energy and excitement. I personally did not dress up, but was really impressed at the creativity of some people! 

Beyond the costumes and gaming, the event served as a meeting ground for like-minded individuals. Connections were formed as people bonded over shared interests, proving that gaming isn’t just about screens—it's about community, creativity, and collaboration with great and welcoming people! 

The event was packed with exciting activities, game stations, introductory workshops and more. Attendees could dive into various worlds, whether through indie game demos, competitive retro arcade battles, or immersive tabletop role-playing sessions, everything you could imagine! Gamers of all kinds had something to enjoy, and the variety kept energy levels high throughout both days. The schedule also included talks from gaming experts and influencers, adding depth to the experience by exploring the culture, history, and future of gaming.

This is only the beginning. Tyrol has played host to gaming events in the past, and here is hoping there is more to come! Tyrol’s gaming scene is on the rise, and Gamers Heaven will hopefully return next year!
