This adidas TERREX Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival (IATF) is THE trail running event in Innsbruck. Almost 7,000 participants took part in the seven different distances, from 15 kilometers to 110 kilometers. At this year's edition, not only new course records were celebrated - personal best times and top performances were also achieved.
Like other sporting events and competitions, this trail run festival in the heart of the Alps is a suitable platform to test your personal limits, whether you are ambitious, experienced or a beginner.
And like any sporting challenge, the IATF has its ups and downs. I was able to take part in the race weekend on the K35 course. Like many other participants, I experienced a lot, learned a lot and gained numerous new experiences.

Spoiler: You only see happy faces! Trail running must make you happy!

This year was my first time at the IATF - and I can say with full conviction: it won't be the last time. From start to finish, the organization was well thought out and the support along the course was simply great. Together with a friend, I ran 'for fun' - and that's exactly what we achieved: 37 kilometers with a smile on our faces and pure joy in our hearts. The warm support of the other runners and, above all, the thunderous applause at the finish line made it a fabulous end to our trail running adventure.

It was one of the toughest things we've ever done together. This trail run was a real rollercoaster of emotions - from the first to the last minute. The best moment: crossing the finish line together with friends. An indescribable feeling of having really made it. Looking back, we are so thrilled that we are actually considering going one better next year and attempting a longer distance. All in all, it was a great experience - the support along the route with all the people cheering us on was simply fantastic. We also had some great encounters along the way. The atmosphere was unique - we are still very impressed.

The IATF 2025 - K25, my first race - and a very special one at that. The route was varied and perfect for immersing yourself in the world of trail running. For me as a newcomer to Innsbruck, it was also a run through my new home - a double pleasure. I had set my sights high, but the rousing atmosphere at the start, the adrenaline and the downhill start meant that - despite intensive preparation - I overdid my pace early on. My heart rate quickly reached the threshold range and could no longer be stabilized even with walking breaks and conscious breathing. The strain became noticeable - both physically and mentally. Additional difficulties were caused by an incorrect assessment of my energy intake, which led to stomach problems. Nevertheless, I managed to finish the race with determination. It wasn't the target time I was aiming for, but it was a finish that was characterized by willpower and perseverance.
I'm proud of that - and I'm taking this experience with me. See you soon, IATF 2026!
Sarah and Domi - K15
The Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival 2025 was great fun for us. Especially because it was our first time trying out trail running. We've caught the fever and are already looking forward to taking on the challenge again next year.
Alex - K25
As in previous years, the IATF 2025 was an outstanding event. The fantastic atmosphere - at the start, along the course and at the finish - made even exhaustion and cramps fade into the background. Conclusion: an all-round perfect trail running weekend right on my doorstep, in the heart of the Alps.
Carina - K35
I have been taking part in sporting events and various competitions all my life. This year I tried trail running for the first time - with the best support from kilometer 0 to kilometer 37. You can't describe the feeling of being cheered on by so many people and then reaching the finish line together with your running partner - you have to experience it for yourself. The organization in advance was also great! As a participant, you always received enough information about the event and the course, which not only makes preparation easier, but also reduces nervousness. There was plenty of refreshments during the run and you always had the feeling that you were at the center of the event as an athlete. For me personally, it was one of the toughest but most enjoyable races I've ever done.
