Whether you’re having a night out with the girls or a cheeky after-work drink, it’s always cocktail-o-clock in Innsbruck. From fancy penthouse bars to hipster hangouts, there are plenty of places in the city to get your mojito fix. Here are six of my favourite cocktail bars in Innsbruck.

LIQUID DIARY

It’s classy, it’s fun and it’s right in the centre of the city – Liquid Diary is rightly one of Innsbruck’s most popular cocktail bars. If their extensive spirit collection behind the bar isn’t enough to impress you, then their barkeeper’s tricks certainly will.

Liquid Diary is also known for their cool events, from guest barkeepers to themed drinks nights. Keep an eye on their social media for updates.

STAGE 12

Just a stone’s throw from Liquid Diary is the ultra-classy Stage 12 bar. While you can order the standard daiquiris and caipirinhas here, I would highly recommend one of Stage 12’s own inventions instead. Try the Herbal Highball (gin, ginger ale and lavender) for something refreshing or the Salted Caramel Old Fashioned (whisky, salted caramel and port) for a salty-sweet bombshell.

Also not to miss are the giant purple heads outside, as well as the funky modern beer garden (or should that be cocktail garden?)

M&M

Every city has a legendary cocktail bar and in Innsbruck it’s M&M. This popular bar has been serving thirsty cocktail lovers since 2003, and their menu includes literally every cocktail you could ever think of. Tequila Sunrise? Check. Moscow Mule? Check. Bombay Herbal? I have no idea what that is but it’s probably awesome so check!

At the back of M&M there is also a small lounge which you can reserve for up to 10 people, and they do some great happy hour deals.

ADLERS

OK so Adlers isn’t strictly a cocktail bar, and only has a few mixed drinks on the menu. But what Adlers lacks in creative cocktails, it makes up for in breathtaking views. Situated on the top floor of the sophisticated Adlers hotel, the bar offers the most amazing panorama of the city.

Fancy sipping a Hugo in the sunshine, surrounded by epic mountains and the buzz of the city down below? This is your place.

SEE YOU – THE BAR

The name might be strange, but the cocktails definitely aren’t! See You is another of Innsbruck’s longstanding cocktail bars, located in the heart of the city’s old town. It has a dark, mysterious vibe, fun bartenders and a killer Long Island Ice Tea (don’t have more than one, I say this from experience).

And the fact it’s just a stone’s throw from the famous Golden Roof is an extra plus!

KATER NOSTER

Innsbruck is home to around 30,000 students, so it’s no surprise that there are a few hipster establishments in town. But Kater Noster takes that studenty vibe and raises it to the next level. With a wide range of delicious cocktails in unusual containers (see the tin can cocktail below), Kater Noster is the ideal place for a chilled drink with friends.

They also showcase some of the best local art in town, with exhibitions changing every few weeks or so.
