Camping Judenstein: A Night in a Tent

Camping, kids, and a newly renovated campground in an idyllic setting: My trip to the Judenstein Campground was a family adventure of the very best kind! 

The Anticipation

In this blog post, I’ll take you along to the Judenstein Campground, where I got to spend a night in a tent with the kids. For me, even the preparations are part of the camping adventure. Together, we gathered our gear, packed the car, and looked forward to a night under the open sky. Even in those first moments, you could feel the excitement for our adventure together. Maybe you’re wondering if camping with kids can really be relaxing. That’s exactly what I wanted to find out for myself. In this article, I’ll show you how our camping trip went, what we experienced, and why this little adventure was more than worth it for us.

Before I take you along on our camping adventure, I’d like to briefly introduce you to the Judenstein campground. It’s located in the town of Rinn at about 900 meters above sea level, nestled in the beautiful Tyrolean countryside. As soon as we arrived, I noticed how peaceful and relaxed the atmosphere is here. If you want to escape the daily grind and spend a few days in nature, this is the perfect place for you.

The campsites are spacious and offer plenty of room, whether you’re traveling with a tent, trailer, or RV. Electrical hookups and fresh water are available right at your campsite. I was particularly impressed by the modern restroom facilities. Not only are they exceptionally well-equipped, but they were also spotlessly clean at all times throughout our stay—a factor that’s especially important to me at a campground.

Great for Families

If you’re traveling with children, you’ll receive a family pass. This gives you access to a separate family restroom with a changing table. This is a real relief, especially with small children, since you have plenty of space and can take care of your child in peace.

Check-in was also quick and hassle-free. We were given a very warm welcome, and everything was taken care of within a few minutes. This friendly first impression immediately made us feel welcome and convinced us that we’d found the perfect starting point for a relaxing camping weekend.

After a friendly check-in, we first set up our tent and made ourselves comfortable at our campsite. Then we took our time exploring the campground. My little one immediately noticed the lovingly designed children’s playroom. I especially love that it was converted from the former reception area and now serves as a place for young guests to play and relax. There’s also a small shop on the campground that sells regional products. There, you’ll find everything you need for your stay while discovering some local specialties. Another highlight is the cozy fire pit. Here, you can wind down the day by a campfire and enjoy the campground’s special atmosphere. We had actually planned to spend the evening right there—but I’ll tell you more about that later.

After taking our time to explore the campground, we headed on to the Mauseloch playground. You can reach it from the campground in about ten minutes on foot via an idyllic forest path. The walk there alone is a little adventure in itself and is really fun with kids.

Once we arrived at the playground, our little ones were immediately thrilled. There you’ll find swings, a slide, a trampoline, various climbing and balancing structures, water play areas, and a large sandbox. You’re guaranteed never to get bored here.

While the kids played, climbed, and ran around to their hearts’ content, we were able to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. After a good long session at the playground, though, our two were completely worn out. We’d actually planned to wind down the evening by the fire pit with a campfire. But sometimes kids have their own plans. They were just too tired, so instead we spent the evening relaxing at our campsite. There, we let the day wind down peacefully and enjoyed the special atmosphere at the campground. For me, it’s exactly these unplanned moments that make a camping adventure with kids so authentic and unforgettable.

To be honest, we didn’t notice much of the night itself—and that’s probably the best sign of just how quiet the campground is. No disturbing noise, no hustle and bustle—just the sounds of nature. The later the night got, the more comfortable the temperature in the tent became. After a hot summer day, it was a welcome relief and, for me, the perfect contrast to the sweltering city.

The next morning was just as lovely. A special highlight at the Judenstein campground is the local baker, who comes directly to the campground every morning with fresh rolls and pastries. For me, the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning is simply part of a perfect camping vacation.

What could be better than having breakfast outside with your loved ones in this dreamy morning atmosphere? With a hot cup of coffee, fresh pastries, and a view of the greenery, the day gets off to a very relaxed start. It’s exactly these little moments that make a camping trip so special to me and that I’ll remember for a long time to come.

If you’re staying at the Judenstein campground, I have a very special excursion tip for you: the “ Zirbenweg ” trail, which runs from the Patscherkofel to the Tulfeinalm in Tulfes. For me, this panoramic trail is one of the most beautiful hikes in Tyrol. High above Innsbruck, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, ancient Swiss stone pine forests, and a stunning natural landscape.

If you’d rather take it a bit easier or are traveling with younger children, you’ll find numerous beautiful walking trails around the Judenstein campground. The shady forests around Rinn are perfect for relaxing walks and offer a welcome respite from the heat, especially on warm summer days. This way, you can enjoy Tyrolean nature without having to embark on a long hike right away. No matter what you decide to do—there are plenty of opportunities around the campground to actively experience nature.

We absolutely loved our night at the Judenstein campground. From the very first moment, we felt comfortable and welcome. The warm friendliness of the staff, the beautiful setting in the heart of the Tyrolean countryside, and the well-maintained, exceptionally clean grounds made our stay a truly memorable experience.

We especially loved how relaxed our stay was with the kids. Our two little ones were able to move around freely, play, and explore nature. Whether on the playground, in the playroom, or simply exploring the campground, you could tell just how much they were enjoying themselves. It’s precisely these carefree moments that make a family trip so special.

Take the Bus for Hiking & into Town

Another big plus is the excellent access to public transportation. This lets you leave the car behind for a change and head straight out to numerous hikes and attractions in the region. That makes the campground an ideal starting point.

For us, our stay at the Judenstein campground was a wonderful break from everyday life. We were able to unwind together, spend time as a family, and create many wonderful memories. If you’re looking for a quiet, family-friendly campground with a great location, warm hosts, and plenty of opportunities for adventures big and small, then I can wholeheartedly recommend the Judenstein Campground.
