The culinary delights found in the mountains are just as varied as the many hiking options available. Be sure to stop in at one of the mountain huts and try the traditional home-cooked Tyrolean food! You have earned it! The absolute favourite dish as rated by Innsbruck locals: Kaspressknödel cheese dumplings. Preferably served in a hearty beef soup, alternatively with a side salad or hot sauerkraut. By the way, bacon dumplings are also delicious. As is the hearty Tiroler Gröstl, a traditional Tyrolean dish made from potatoes. Or how about spinach dumplings? Or a dry-cured ham sandwich? Or Kaiserschmarrn pancakes? The list goes on and the variety of dishes available is much more than you'll need for just one hike. It is just as diverse as our wide range of routes, in fact.
