Embrace the Extraordinary

Innsbruck is anything but ordinary. Even though the region is most known for winter sports, you best believe summer in Innsbruck is unforgettable. Lush green nature at your doorstep and epic events, there is nothing like it. And what a line-up for the summer too! Prepare for your social calendar to be filled! So, I thought I’d give a short run-down on my top picks to enjoy this summer. Make sure to take it all in!

Circus Theater Roncalli

From July 21st to September 3rd, Swarovski Crystal Worlds will once again play host to the Circus Theater Roncalli. With 16 shows daily, between 9am and 7pm, there is no excuse to miss the stunning performances of these incredibly talented artists. It is truly fun for the whole family with aerial acrobatics, spectacular juggling, playful clowns and so much more. This is the fifth time that Swarovski Crystal Worlds has hosted the circus, but if you think that you don’t need to go again, because you saw it last year, you’re sorely mistaken! The acts are different, brilliant and a must-see!

Open Air Cinema Zeughaus

From July 27th to August 26th the inner courtyard of the Zeughaus in Innsbruck will once again be converted into an open air cinema. Cinematograph and Leokino have organized this since 1995, with space for up to 1000 visitors and a 160 square meter screen it’s perfect for enjoying a film under the stars. A new film every night means 31 films will be shown, everything from blockbusters to indie, foreign language and everything in between. Open your horizons, try something new, and enjoy a summer flick in the wide open air! Best part, it won’t break the bank! Only 8€ if bought in advance, 10€ at the door, or get yourself a 7x7 deal for only 49€ and use them anytime over the 2023 season! For a list of movies check out their website.

Krapoldi in the Park

From August 29th to September 3rd the Krapoldi festival returns! Primarily located in Rapoldi Park in the center of Innsbruck, this festival invites international ensembles of the circus persuasion. Clowning, street theater, and so much more!  This primarily free cultural event is fun for all ages and there is always something new and exciting to see. The program is full of marvelous things to see and do, six days of nonstop wonder!

Telfs Live

Just down the road from Innsbruck is the city of Telfs. This summer, on the first Thursday of every month the stage will be set for local bands to perform. Starting at 8pm and running for about 2 hours, enjoy live music in the warm summer sun! On August 3rd enjoy Music2Go, an acoustic pop & rock group. September 7th presents Saitenstechen, a musical duo with flair boasting not only musical talent but entertainment as a whole. Wrapping up the event on October 5th will be the musical duo Teresa Pramhaas & Paraic Sweeney, with Teresa on the violin, Paraic on guitar and both on vocals. I've listened to them often and always enjoyed it! I’ve always found Tyrol a place with immense local talent for live music! Check it out for yourself!

Gans Anders Festival

From the 22nd until the 24th of September wrap up the summer with the Gans Anders Festival! Let loose and feel the beat this year at the Baggersee in Innsbruck. Three days, three stages and plenty of chances to dance like nobody's watching! But, it’s not just the music to keep you hooked during the Gans Anders Festival, there are live art performances, workshops and more! Baggersee is the perfect summertime location for a festival like this. Take a dip in the lake, enjoy a beverage, enjoy the music, the art, the workshops. For three days the possibilities are endless, and fun is guaranteed!

These are just a few of the many highlights that a summer in Innsbruck has to offer! Don’t miss out on any of it!
