Glamping in the Floating Home at the Natterer Lake

Get outside, out into nature! There are places where the stress of everyday life falls away as if by itself in no time. Lake Natterer See is one of them. It's only ten minutes by car from the city to nature, and the public bus also runs right to the door. Reason enough for a visit ... a very special visit, namely not at the bathing pond, but at the back of the grounds at the camping and glamping site.

Since 1930, the Giner family has been running not only a bathing lake with a pub, but also a five-star camping site, which is known for its unusual types of accommodation, among other things.

From safari lodge tents to wood lodges to sleeping barrels, floating homes and tiny homes, there are a variety of accommodations here close to the city that make a luxurious glamping vacation possible. Whether you're just passing through, spending your vacation here, or maybe just need a short getaway. Tip: In 2018, I was allowed here on the blog already once about the Treehouses report.

Particularly spectacular are the Floating Homes, newly built in 2023, of which there are two on the northern shore of the lake. They can be reached via a well-secured wooden walkway that wobbles a little in the water with every step.

On the platform itself, in addition to the respective accommodation, there is also an inviting sun bed, two comfortable chairs and a grill that seems to literally call out "grill yourself something!". The cottage itself is well equipped with everything the glamping heart desires: refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and all necessary cooking utensils.

Through a narrow door you reach the bathroom: kept simple with toilet, sink and shower. In the back of the room there is a double bed with a TV, in front of it a small table with a couch. But that's not all: you can set the mood with a sound system via Bluetooth. The network name? "Loveboat 2."

In addition to all these wonderfully luxurious glamping furnishings, however, it is primarily the experience of spending a night right on the water that will be remembered, or winding down the evening on the deck and starting the next day with a coffee in hand right on the water. Pure luxury for nature lovers and self-catering.

If you don't fire up the grill, you'll probably regret it - because when do you ever have the chance to grill directly ON a lake? Unprepared for this highlight, I tackle plan B on my evening at the Floating Home: dinner in the restaurant . The large terrace is also located directly on the lakeshore, and the last rays of the day's sun hit right here. The menu is Italian-inspired, the meat from my "Tagliata di Manzo" roasted to perfection with arugula and Parmesan shavings. A very solid plan B.

The night in the floating home is available from 142 euros, but in the high season you have to book at least three nights. The accommodations are perfect for romantic nights for two, officially they can also be inhabited by three people. Bed linen, towels, soap, shower gel and cleaning kit are provided, only tea towels must be brought along if necessary.
