Baroque masterpieces on display
"The Coronation of Mary" drawing by Simon Benedikt Faistenberger (1695 - 1759) on display at "Weltentfaltug" in Innsbruck's Stadtmuseum
Baroque masterpieces from the graphic design collection are leaving the Tiroler Landesmuseen's repository for the first time. Precious drawings-including works by Paul Troger and Simon Benedikt Faistenberger-are on display until Oct. 26, 2026 at the Stadtmuseum in Innsbruck. The graphic works on display are mostly sketches and studies that were intended for the preparation of complex projects, such as ceiling frescoes, altars or theater sets. The title of the exhibition "Weltentfaltung" (which we could translate as "Unveiling of the World") refers to the folds, which in a continuous interplay between concealing and unveiling, constitute a central stylistic element of the Baroque.

Magdalena Frauenberg and Melanie Gandyra at Kunstraum
Through May 30, 2026, Kunstraum Innsbruck presents a solo exhibition by Austrian artist Magdalena Frauenberg (* 1996). Her works-installations, photographs and videos-start from regional iconographies, classical artistic depictions and artifacts to question the depiction of femininity. At the center of the exhibition four illuminated showcases attempt to channel light from the outside world into the exhibition space by playing with emptiness and luminosity.

Also at the Kunstraum Innsbruck until November 2026 is the exhibition "TRIMMT EUCH - ein Pfad der guten Hoffnung" by Melanie Gandyra. The artist, who lives and works in Innsbruck, completely transforms the Pop-up shop space. Her colorful images of botanical and organic forms - in which ecological fragility, cartographic tracings and organic structures are intertwined - create a world of their own in which the visitor finds himself immersed.

Mahsa Aleph at Kunstpavillon
Until April 25, 2026, the first major solo exhibition of Berlin-based Iranian artist Mahsa Aleph is on view at the Kunstpavillon in Innsbruck. Central to her artistic work are fragments, rubble and memories. In the Kunstpavillon she has created a room in which 27,277 date pits filed by inmates in Tehran are displayed. In Iranian prisons, filing date pits for making rosaries has a long tradition; especially in cases of solitary confinement and single cell confinement, shaping date pits can become an act of survival. These artifacts often serve as a bargaining chip and, more than anything else, represent a small gesture of self-determination.

Marching bands at the Tirol Panorama museum
Through July 6, 2026, the Das Tirol Panorama museum in Innsbruck is showcasing marching bands. The exhibition tells the story of when and why band music began to become so important in Tyrol, taking a critical look at its history and military roots, right up to the present day. In fact, today marching bands are more alive than ever in these parts - there are more bands in Tirol than there are municipalities - and they count passionate amateur musicians of all ages among their ranks.

100 years of heroines at the Kaiserjägermuseum
Small sculpture by Katharina Lanz, who became famous at the Battle of Spinges in 1797, on display in "Hosenrolle" at the Kaiserjägermuseum in Innsbruck
Until June 2, 2026, the Kaiserjägermuseum in Innsbruck is all about women. The small exhibition "Hosenrolle? Frauen im Porträt von 1809 - 1918" tells stories of determined and courageous women who, in the anti-Napoleonic period and during World War I, performed actions that were unusual for a woman, breaking away from the "female figure" of their time. They played an important role in battle, resistance or defense - and this at a time when women did not legally enjoy the same rights as men. The title of the exhibition is fitting: the term "Hosenrolle"-literally translated it means role in pants-is derived from the language of theater and denotes women playing en travesti a male role.

For this exhibition he has created works depicting Alpine rivers such as the Inn, the Lech or the Alpine Rhine, photographed in Tyrol and Vorarlberg. The series of landscape photographs is enhanced by portraits taken by the artist in public spaces in Innsbruck.
