Winter magic on the Rangger Köpfl - a hike through the silence
Winter has a very special magic. When the snow crunches underfoot and the air is clear and fresh, a hike through the white landscape feels like a little escape from everyday life. The Rangger Köpfl, just a few kilometers from Innsbruck, offers exactly this experience - and the best thing about it: thanks to the new gondola lift, it is now even easier to enjoy this winter idyll.
Take the gondola into the winter wonderland
From Oberperfuss, the new gondola lift takes you directly up to the high plateau of Rangger Köpfls. Even during the ride, an impressive panorama opens up, leaving you wanting more. Once at the top, you are immersed directly in the pristine winter landscape - perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the magic of the mountains to the full.
Thanks to the new combined cable car Peter-Anich-III, it is now also possible to get all the way up to Rangger Köpfl as a pedestrian or hiker. The combination of cabin and chairlift allows hikers to reach the summit even in winter.
A circular trail with magnificent views
The winter hiking trail takes you on a circular route across the extensive plateau. It leads past snow-covered alpine meadows at the foot of the mighty Rosskogels. Again and again, sweeping views of the surrounding peaks open up: the mighty Rosskogel towers into the sky, while the Zugspitze and the striking Kalkkögel can be seen in the distance. Every step through the snow brings new, impressive perspectives - and numerous photo opportunities, such as some barns that can be found in the landscape.
Stop off and enjoy: Gastronomy along the way
After a leisurely hike through this tranquil winter landscape, the Rosskogelhütte invites you to take a well-deserved break. Here you can warm up with Tyrolean delicacies and take in the view once again. Whether it's a hearty dumpling dish or a warming tea - everything tastes a little better here.
Back to the valley - relaxed or fast
There are two options for the way back: If you prefer a leisurely ride, take the gondola back down to the valley. Those looking for a bit of action can grab a toboggan and whizz down the perfectly groomed run - a real highlight for young and old.
In good winter conditions, you can also take the lower winter hiking trail on foot via Gfas into the valley. This involves descending from the Rosskogelhütte to the Peter-Anich-II gondola lift station and then following the well-signposted path across the reservoir towards Gfas, a small hamlet nestled in a wonderful landscape. From there, the path leads down to the station Stiglreith and down into the valley.
A winter experience for all the senses
The winter hike at Rangger Köpfl is more than just a walk in the snow - it is a little break for body and soul. The tranquillity of nature, the panoramic views and the fresh mountain air make it an unforgettable experience. Perfect for anyone who wants to experience winter in its most beautiful form and be out and about in high alpine terrain.
In combination with the fantastic toboggan run, tranquillity and adventure can be easily combined.
How to get there
Also with the public transportation very easy to reach: The best way to get to the cable cars Oberperfuss is to take the Postbus (lines 461 and 463) from Innsbruck main station. For car drivers, there is a parking lot at the valley station.
With the free guest card Welcome Card includes public transportation.
