On snowshoes to the White Roof – with a guide through the Axamer Lizum

If you've always wanted to try snowshoeing, this is the right place for you. The snowshoe hike ,,Weißes Dachl" is a wonderful tour for beginners. The fantastic tour away from the slopes of the ski area Axamer Lizum is part of the guided activity program of the Innsbruck region and takes place once a week in winter (except in bad weather). It is free of charge Welcome Card free of charge, but registration is required by 4 p.m. the day before at the latest.

You walk through the winter landscape with a view of the Kalkkögel for about an hour. The snow crunches under your shoes. The fresh air clears your head. And the views are a real treat.

The meeting point for this tour is always Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Freeride Division at the Axamer Lizum. You can reach the start of the tour free of charge by public transport. This is because they are included with Welcome Card, as are the guided tours. When you arrive at the Freeride Division, you will receive a warm welcome from tour guide Christine. She will give you a briefing on snowshoeing and you will also get to know your tour group. The tour planning will also be discussed so that everyone can prepare for it in the best possible way. Afterwards, you will set off in the direction of Schafalm.

You reach Schafalm after a short ascent and the magnificent panorama invites you to linger. But there's no time to linger for now, because we continue through the forest, where Christine shows you the tracks of the forest animals. After the forest section, we take a break and snap a few nice souvenir photos ☀️

Full of energy, we continue along the forest road for a short distance. This is followed by another section of forest which is particularly notable for the beautiful bearded moss on the trees. Bartmoos stands for particularly good air quality. The fresh air and tranquillity in the forest invite you to relax. The hike then continues along the forest path to the viewpoint.

On the way there, your guide will tell you interesting facts about the surrounding area. The view towards Kalkkögel, affectionately known as the "Dolomites of the North", is the crowning glory of this tour. After a break for a snack, rest and enjoyment, the toboggan run takes you back downhill to the starting point of the tour.
