I went in search of the most beautiful photo spots around Innsbruck. Today I reveal my personal insider tips for fabulous souvenir photos of breathtaking landscapes. No matter how old, young, sporty or comfortable you are: You can reach the following photo locations relatively easily and bring home top vacation photos.

Innsbruck is the perfect place to let off steam creatively as a photographer. It doesn’t matter whether you take your “perfect shot” with a professional camera or simply capture the moment with your smartphone. Personally, it is important to me to always use the first or the last cable car, because then you will find the “soft sunlight”, which is optimal for taking pictures. By the way, all photo points can be reached safely on foot or by public transport, even with family.

The Nordkette – Seegrube and Hafelekar

The Nordkette is a wonderful central recreation area. You can reach it easily and quickly with the Nordekttenbahnen from the city. At the top you have a fantastic view into the valley with a view of Innsbruck’s local mountain, the Patscherkofel. The Seegrube and the Hafelekar offer you a variety of possibilities for beautiful souvenir photos. From the Hafelekar, the alpine view over the Karwendelwendel mountains is especially great. It’s best to take the first lift up, then you’ll have beautiful, soft light for your pictures.

The Patscherkofel

You should have experienced the view from the Patscherkofel “live” at least once in your life. Depending on your physical condition and endurance, you can either take the Patscherkofel cable car to the top station or start directly from the parking lot on foot. Always follow the signs to the mountain station. From there, a forest road leads you to the summit in about an hour. It welcomes you with a breathtaking view over Innsbruck with the Nordkette in the background. You can also see into the Wipp and Stubaital. Every Thursday the Patscherkofelbahn offers a gondola ride until late at night (23:00). Take this opportunity to photograph an unforgettable sunset, but also the glowing city. If you are now in the mood to hike, I recommend the Zirbenweg to the Tulfeinalm. However, you’d better do it during daylight.

On Thursday evening you have this impressive view of Innsbruck.

The Glungezer

The Glungezer Höhenweg is ideal for sports fans. The hike rewards you with alpine panorama and countless photo motifs. The view of the city from the Sonnenspitze (2,639m) is a very special highlight. While hiking along the high trail you will pass the Viggarspitze, which offers you a great view over the Inn Valley. The mountain station of the Patscherkofel cable car at the end of this tour offers you another opportunity for a souvenir photo on Innsbruck’s local mountain. Please note that this hike should be planned as a day trip and requires stamina and endurance.

The Muttereralm

The Muttereralmbahn is highly recommended especially for families with children. The view from the Muttereralm into the Inn Valley all the way to the Kellerjoch is truly a highlight. From the mountain station, an idyllic forest path leads you in five to ten minutes to the reservoir above the alp. There you can take photos with dreamlike reflections of the surrounding mountains. For the entertainment of the kids is well provided by adventure playground and magic water. If you want to do a short hike, I recommend the Pfriemeswand. It can be reached from the alp in about one and a half hours and rewards you with a fantastic panorama.

The Axamer Lizum

The Axamer Lizum is also very easy to reach by public transport. Once there, you are offered a variety of hikes. My personal tip is the “Hochbahnsteig”. This one inspires with countless photo motifs and a dreamlike panorama. At the end of this tour you will reach the Hochtennboden, which stretches over a huge, colorful flower meadow. There you can take a break and let the Tyrolean mountains have an effect on you.

The Kühtai Three-Lakes Cable Car

The Kühtai is one of the most beautifulhiking areas outside Innsbruck. With the Drei-Seen-Bahn you drive 20 minutes to the top station. There you can start several tours. the “Drei-Seen-Wanderung” – also ideal for children – scores with beautiful Tyrolean mountain lakes. For the sporty types among you, the “Neunerkogel” is worth a photo. It inspires with a fantastic view to the Finstertal reservoir in Kühtai.
