A space for culture in Telfs run by young people, a gathering place that hosts concerts, workshops, flea markets and more. The idea is to weave something new, and in fact the space is called "Kultur Weberei." Two years after the establishment of the cultural association that runs it, we met with the association's president Kaspar Fischer.

Appointment at Kultur Weberei
We are in Telfs, a small town about 30 kilometers from Innsbruck in the Inn Valley, in a part of the large building that used to house a loden manufactory. Kultur Weberei's spaces are located here, at Niedere-Munde-Straße 13, on the top floor: a venue that aims to be a meeting place primarily for young people, but generally for all local residents. As Kaspar tells us, the cultural offerings of the region can be expanded, and that is what the Kultur Weberei association aims to do, with a varied program that is open to new proposals and accessible to everyone-even economically.
Open space for ideas
In 2023, when the venue that has used these spaces for years closes, a group of young people from Telfs formed a cultural association to keep this space alive. There are six people in the association (all - except one - in their twenties and thirties), but then there are many people who help run the events and the bar. The program mainly includes concerts, but thanks to networking with other associations and cultural institutions in the area-such as the Telfs library, for example-it is being enriched with different kinds of events. Important for the Kultur Weberei is to be open to new proposals and to offer itself as a space available to the public. Therefore, proposals for events are encouraged. Do you have an idea? Just write to the contact found on the website.

See you in September
During the summer months, the Kultur Weberei-which has only indoor spaces-takes a break, but of course preparations for the late September reopening are in full swing. So here are some of the program events coming up in the next few months. It reopens on September 19 with the End of Summer Party: between music, food and drinks it will be a time to get together after the summer break. On Sept. 26, the Kultur Weberei hosts the 2025 edition of "Die goldene Schindel," an international music video competition. On Oct. 3 comes a concert by Sam Siefert Ensemble Projekt, an 11-piece collective that plays contemporary jazz with a groovy twist. Get a taste of their music here. On Oct. 19, fashion and ecology go hand in hand with the Kleidertauschparty: exchange of second hand clothes and accessories, to renew your wardrobe by putting back into circulation what you no longer use.
Much more awaits you on the program: keep an eye on the calendar with events.
