How it all began

Innsbruck is the perfect city to combine work and pleasure. That's what Kathrin Treutinger, the founder of Mountain Breakout. As a passionate skier and nature lover, she came up with the idea back in 2019. She wrote a concept, but it quickly ended up in a drawer and only reappeared during the coronavirus pandemic when she was tidying up.

Originally, Kathrin's main aim was to enrich the Innsbruck start-up scene. During the pandemic, when more and more companies enabled their employees to work remotely from home, she revised her original concept and founded Mountain Breakout. What is on offer Coworkation - a portmanteau word made up of Community(community), Work(work) and Vacation (vacation). As a complete package, guests receive accommodation, a workplace in a coworking space, access to various leisure activities and a community membership including a contact person on site.

The offer is aimed at individual bookers who would like to temporarily relocate their workplace to Tyrol. The aim is to benefit from the Alpine work-life balance. It also appeals to corporates who want to send their teams to Workation. The basic principles of Mountain Breakout are based on four pillars:"Work" (work), "Live" (life),"Experience" (experience) and "Connect" (networking).

The first pillar: work

Let's start with the first aspect - work. In this area, the focus is on creating an inspiring working environment that promotes creativity and productivity. I didn't even know that Innsbruck had such great coworking locations - ideal for start-ups, freelancers or people who are simply looking for an alternative to working from home. Always at your service with help and advice

"Our guests are free to decide when and where they want to work. However, we are there to help and advise them. We give tips on which coworking locations suit them best. Of course, we also provide information on when events are taking place. If you're new to the city and not yet well connected, you naturally don't have much of an overview, but that's what we're here for," says Kathrin. "It's nice to know that you're not on your own. If you have any questions, you can contact your host, who helps our guests with every conceivable request. Even if it's just to give tips on where to get a new charging cable quickly."

The second pillar: Living

But what would a good workation be without the right accommodation? This leads us to the second point: living. The Mountain Breakout packages offer different types of accommodation. You can choose between apartments that you share with others. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, you can choose between a three- or four-star hotel. When selecting accommodation, Mountain Breakout attaches particular importance to the location and, of course, that it is suitable for working. Is there a suitable desk? Does the WLAN work properly? How long will it take me to get to the nearest coworking space? If you have special wishes and requirements, it's best to let us know before you book. "We always try to find the right accommodation for each of our guests," says Kathrin.

The third pillar: experience

To ensure that you don't just spend your stay working, Mountain Breakout places a special focus on the third point: experience. As an Alpine metropolis, Innsbruck offers mountain adventures all year round. Anyone who books a workation at Mountain Breakout receives a Mountain Breakout Pass. This pass gives you free access to various leisure activities in and around Innsbruck. The selection includes the Nordkette, Patscherkofel, Axamer Lizumkühtai and the Schlick in winter, as well as the Muttereralm bike park in summer or free entry to the Innsbruck climbing center. There are different packagesdepending on the package, you can use the leisure activities mentioned for a certain number of days.

Last but not least: networking

The last point, networking, is particularly important, because without a good network it will be difficult these days. If you are only in Innsbruck for a limited period of time, you might find it difficult to network. This is where Mountain Breakout comes into play.
