November, for many a month where they think to themselves that it is gray, dark and gloomy. This is not the case, you just have to go in search and discover the beauty of this time. I set out for you to bring you a new photo love story: between autumn and winter. Colorful.

Usually around this time the first Christmas markets in Innsbruck are already open. The many lights make us happy and create a nice atmosphere. This year it is unfortunately different and therefore it is all the more important to go out into nature to recharge our batteries. November is perfect for long walks, hikes and explorations.

EXPERIENCE NOVEMBER IN INNSBRUCK

Nature is so close in Innsbruck. In just a few minutes we can be in the forest from the city center and relax. Easily accessible by public transport or simply start on foot. The beauty can be so close!

Ambras Castle and Mittelgebirgsrunde

You can easily reach Ambras Castle by public transport. A long walk through the autumnal castle park is highly recommended. Rustling leaves underfoot and earthy colours in all shades characterise the very well-kept grounds.

From the castle you can walk over the Tummelplatz, a military cemetery in the forest, in the direction of Lans. Pure relaxation is offered by a stop at the Lanser Moor and the Lanser See. Sports enthusiasts can climb the Lanser, Igler or Viller Kopf with wonderful views of the Patscherkofel and the Serles. From Lanser See you continue along the Poltenweg towards Vill and back to Innsbruck by public transport.

From Innsbruck to Mühlau and through the Mühlau Gorge

From the town you cross the Inn over the Hans-Psenner-Steg. Through a beautiful, autumnal forest, the trail goes uphill to Judenbühel in Mühlau and the "Alpenzoo" station of the Hungerburgbahn. Via the Schillerweg you reach Mühlau and there the entrance of the Mühlauer Klamm. A gorge in the middle of the city. From the gorge you can reach the Arzler shooting range and from there you can take the public transport back to the city.

A hike to the Salfeiner Lake

Sugared peaks, autumn in the valley. November presents itself so beautifully rich in contrast. How about a short hike to the Salfeiner See? Not far away, but still impressive and a beautiful photo motif.

The hike starts at the halfway point of the toll road to the Kemater Alm. There from the parking lot it goes steeply uphill to the Salfeins Alm and further to the Salfeiner Lake. The lake reflects the Kalkkögel beautifully. Of course, you can also arrive by public transport and reach the ascent well signposted from Grinzens. The way over the toll road to the Kemater Alm takes just over an hour.

For the more athletic I can recommend the round tour: from the Kemater Alm over four summit crosses - the Schaflegerkogel, the Angerbergkopf, the Breitschwemmkogel and over the Grieskogel - to the Salfeiner See. Please note that you are in high alpine terrain here and there may already be snow in November. During my hike a few days ago, this was also the case. (Only for experienced hikers! Walking time: 5 to 6 hours)

Excursion to Lake Möser

The Möserer See is a beautiful forest lake above Telfs and especially in autumn, when it has snowed for the first time, highly recommended for a walk. Great photo motifs are waiting for you. The lake can also be reached by bus.

Walks through Innsbruck's autumnal parks and the city centre

If you don't want to go far, just stroll through Innsbruck's beautiful parks. November has a lot to offer here, sometimes already the first snow and otherwise rustling leaves underfoot.

Sunsets

I think autumn has the most beautiful sunsets. It gets dark early in November, but the end of the day is usually very worth seeing. So why not find a nice place and enjoy?

Walk across the Mieminger Plateau and through "burning larches

The Mieminger Plateau is full of larches. These turn very strong colours in November and one speaks of "burning" larches. Many walking trails lead across the plateau. Watch my video about it:

As you can see: November is not only grey in grey. You just have to get out into nature, of which we have so much in Innsbruck. I wish you a pleasant time, despite lockdowns and I hope I could offer you a few suggestions to stretch your legs. It's worth it!

A few more suggestions in some of my blogs, all of which are also suitable for a November getaway:
