This hike leads past Hotel Astoria and into the Finster Valley below the impressive reservoir structure. With the dam constantly in sight, follow path AV146 uphill. The path crosses the road twice before reaching the top of the dam.
After taking a good look at the dam and enjoying the panoramic views of Kühtai and the reservoir, follow the gravel Höhenpanoramaweg trail to the Drei-Seen-Hütte mountain hut. From there, follow the Höhenweg trail east under the chairlift. This trail leads back to Kühtai via the Mittlerer Plenderlessee lake and Hirschebensee lake.
