Opening Hours

Tuesday - Sunday: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm

Upon entering the former armoury, you step foot inside a museum within a fortress, as the building was once surrounded by a moat. This has now given way to modern streets, but the armoury has kept its historic charm. At one time, Kaiser Maximilian's arsenal was stored here, but the museum now hosts a wide variety of exhibitions and military artefacts, such as historic weapons and cannons. In addition, visitors can experience much about the cultural history of Tyrol, its silver and salt mining operations, and about Andreas Hofer, the tragic folk hero who fought against Napoleon's troops at the Bergisel in 1809.

The Zeughaus is also the setting for special exhibitions on various themes, for example, the cycling exhibition in connection with the 2018 UCI Road World Cycling Championships in Innsbruck. We also highly recommend a visit in summer when the courtyard is transformed into an open-air cinema.
