Ski touring recommendations

This page will give you some ideas for ski tours in the region of Innsbruck. A great way to get a wonderful insight into the wonders of winter, especially under good conditions. These are, of course, only suggestions, as the final responsibility lies with the tourer to inform him or herself about current conditions before setting out.

Ski touring is a sport in which the risks should never be underestimated. We cannot accept any responsibility for snow conditions, avalanche risks and other outside influences. Every ski tourer is responsible for their own adequate avalanche protection and should check all current conditions with Tyrol's Avalanche Warning Service.

This tour starts at the small car park above the last snow shed (avalanche gallery protecting the road) before Kühtai when approaching from Innsbruck. From there, cross the street and you'll come to the green snow shed. The route initially leads slightly downhill along the snow shed before following a road uphill to the Klammbachtal stream valley. The road ends at a water catchment facility at an altitude of around 1,900 metres above sea level and the route then continues along an alpine trail that leads further into the valley. Later you will come to a turnoff, follow the signs to "Rietzer Grieskogel". The route continues via Narrenböden, always with a view of the summit with its mighty cross, before leading up Bachwandkopf to the ridge. From there, you follow the ridge east to the summit.

Weak winds from the south will bring maritime air to our region today. It will not be humid enough to keep the sun from shining, but it may still produce thunderstorms in the afternoon and in the evening. Temperatures will continue to rise.

Little change is expected for tomorrow. On Friday the air pressure will start to fall. Low pressure will rise again over Central Europe, which will result in a mix of sunshine, clouds and thunderstorms.
