Every Tuesday and Friday (with sufficient snow from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, Section 2 until 9pm), the 8-seater gondola lift transports tobogganists from the valley station to the panoramic restaurant in Stiglreith. From there, you can choose to sled the 6km into the valley, or take the new gondola lift further to Sulzstich. Here, the toboggan run's total length is 8km. If you choose to walk another 2km to the traditional Rosskogelhütte alpine hut, the toboggan run then stretches to 10km. This first section is not floodlit.
Groups of 30 or more can book the toboggan run for private evening upon request.
The toboggan run at Rangger Köpfl can be reached by lift and is over eight kilometres from start to finish, making it one of the longest toboggan runs in the Innsbruck region. It consists of three sections. The majority of the run can be accessed in comfort by taking the gondolas to Stiglreith and Sulzstich (middle station). Only the last 1.4 kilometres up to the Rosskogelhütte mountain hut have to be covered on foot. Alternatively, you can toboggan directly from the top of the Sulzstich gondola.
For a longer run, you can walk up to the rustic Rosskogelhütte mountain hut from Sulzstich. This upper section is not lit so you need a head torch for the walk up and the run back down.
Night tobogganing is possible every Tuesday and Friday snow conditions permitting: a truly memorable experience that is sure to become a favourite holiday memory. The gondolas run from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm (Gondola II only until 9 pm).
Sections of the toboggan run:
Bottom lift station – Stiglreith: take the 8-seater Gondola I from the bottom lift station up to the Stiglreith station. At Stiglreith, you can enjoy a bite to eat at the Panoramarestaurant. From there, you can either toboggan 4.7 kilometres down into the valley or take Gondola II further up the mountain to Sulzstich.
Stiglreith – Sulzstich: Gondola II takes you an additional two kilometres up the mountain and gives you almost seven kilometres of tobogganing fun back down to the bottom lift station.
Sulzstich – Rosskogelhütte: the last section from Restaurant Sulzstich to the rustic Rosskogelhütte mountain hut can only be accessed on foot. The walk from the top of Gondola II to the Rosskogelhütte mountain hut (1.7 kilometres) takes 50 minutes. This section is not lit and we only recommend doing it if equipped with a head torch. From the Rosskogelhütte, you can enjoy over eight kilometres of tobogganing fun all the way down into the valley.
Regular lift opening times: daily from 9 am to 4.30 pm
This tour starts at Arzkasten car park. From there, a winter hiking trail runs alongside the toboggan run up to the Lehnberghaus mountain hut. Once at the top, you can warm up and enjoy some welcome food and drink at the hut before tobogganing back down into the valley.
Toboggans are available to hire directly from the mountain hut.
This toboggan run is located above and to the south of the village of Rinn and has a separate, wide path for the walk up. Some sections offer great views of the Inn Valley, including views of Innsbruck, Hall, Mils, Rinn and, of course, the impressive Nordkette mountain range. Just before reaching the Rinner Alm mountain hut, the path goes back down for 30 vertical metres. You can do your first bit of tobogganing here.
For night tobogganing fans: the toboggan run is lit on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm to 11 pm. Toboggan rental is not available at this location.
Current information about the status and condition of the toboggan run is available at: www.winterrodeln.org
Your ascent to the starting point of this run starts at the car park on the southern (upper) edge of Sistrans. You'll then take the forest path uphill, along which you'll sledge back down into the valley. This toboggan run goes mostly through the forest, with occasional wonderful views of the Inn Valley. An interesting and curvy run. Don't forget to take your sledge with you, or make sure you hire one beforehand, as there is no rental here.
