Every Tuesday and Friday (with sufficient snow from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, Section 2 until 9pm), the 8-seater gondola lift transports tobogganists from the valley station to the panoramic restaurant in Stiglreith. From there, you can choose to sled the 6km into the valley, or take the new gondola lift further to Sulzstich. Here, the toboggan run's total length is 8km. If you choose to walk another 2km to the traditional Rosskogelhütte alpine hut, the toboggan run then stretches to 10km. This first section is not floodlit.
Groups of 30 or more can book the toboggan run for private evening upon request.
The toboggan run on Rangger Köpfl is one of the longest toboggan runs in the Innsbruck region. It consists of three sections that are easy to master on foot. Thanks to the newly built combined lift, the whole run can also be done comfortably by cable car if desired. Or you can start your toboggan run right at the Sulzstich mountain railway station.
If you want to extend your descent, you can hike from Sulzstich to the rustic Rosskogelhütte. This top section is not illuminated. You will therefore need a headlamp for the ascent and descent.
Night tobogganing every Tuesday and Friday if there is enough snow: a truly memorable experience that will become one of your favourite holiday memories. Gondola operation from 18:30 to 21:30 (Gondola II only until 21:00).
The sections of the toboggan run:
valley station - Stiglreith: Take the eight-seater gondola lift I from the valley station to the Stiglreith station. There, the panorama restaurant invites you to stop for a bite to eat. From here, you can either toboggan 4.7 kilometres down into the valley or take gondola lift II further up to Sulzstich.
Stiglreith - Sulzstich: Another two kilometres to the top with gondola lift II, meaning almost seven kilometres of tobogganing fun to the valley station.
Sulzstich - Rosskogelhütte: The last section from the Sulzstich restaurant to the rustic Rosskogelhütte can be reached either on foot or comfortably with the new Kombibahn III cable car. The walk from the top station of gondola II to the Rosskogelhütte (1.7 kilometres) takes 40 minutes. This section is not floodlit, so we recommend only using a headlamp for the descent. If you start here, you can enjoy over eight kilometres of tobogganing fun down to the valley.
Regular gondola lift times: daily 08:30 - 16:30
The Welcome Card Plus includes one free ascent and descent per stay!
The tour starts at the Arzkasten car park and leads along a well-prepared winter hiking trail that runs alongside the toboggan run. The gradient is pleasant and even, making the hike suitable for families and beginners. After around 1.5 hours of ascent, you reach the cosy Lehnberghaus at an altitude of 1,554 m.
At the Lehnberghaus, you can fortify yourself with hot food and drinks and warm up in the cosy parlour. Tip: The homemade soups and pastries are particularly popular.
The 3.5 km long toboggan run takes the same route back down into the valley. It is moderately steep and well secured - ideal for leisure tobogganists and families. If you don't have your own toboggan, you can hire one directly from the Lehnberghaus (€ 5.00 per toboggan). Please note the opening hours.
This toboggan run is located above and to the south of the village of Rinn and has a separate, wide path for the walk up. Some sections offer great views of the Inn Valley, including views of Innsbruck, Hall, Mils, Rinn and, of course, the impressive Nordkette mountain range. Just before reaching the Rinner Alm mountain hut, the path goes back down for 30 vertical metres. You can do your first bit of tobogganing here.
For night tobogganing fans: the toboggan run is lit on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm to 11 pm. Toboggan rental is not available at this location.
Current information about the status and condition of the toboggan run is available at: www.winterrodeln.org
Experience pure tobogganing fun on around three kilometres through the snow-covered winter forest with fantastic views. The route leads from the Glungezerbahn mountain station to the middle station.
The ascent to the mountain station is easy with the Glungezerbahn cable car, as there is no separate path for the ascent on foot. We therefore strongly recommend using the gondola lift to get to the starting point.
Downhill run and toboggan hire
The tobogganing fun begins at Alpengasthaus Halsmarter and takes you through the winter forest down to the middle station. A varied route with a wonderful winter landscape awaits you there. Toboggans can be hired from Alpengasthaus Halsmarter if you don't have your own equipment.
The "Muttereralm" family toboggan run is known for its easy access. You can get to the start of the run on the Muttereralmbahn gondola or on foot. The walk up takes about two hours and it is possible to stop for a break and a bite to eat at the Mutterer Alm mountain restaurant.
The journey to the resort is also easy: take the Stubai Valley tram (STB tramline) to the Nockhof stop and walk from there to the Muttereralm. Parking is available in the large, on-site car park (fees apply). The toboggan run leads from the top of the Muttereralmbahn gondola to the middle lift station and is suitable for families with children. The run is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
It is possible to take the gondola with a toboggan from the middle lift station.
This toboggan run, perfect for athletes, starts at the Muttereralm cable-car mountain station, before passing the mid-station (Nockhof) on its winding way down to the valley station. Barriers and fences are in place for your safety. There is no floodlighting. Toboggans can be rented from the valley station.
Please observe any warning signs! This toboggan run is classed as an 'intermediate, unlit sports run' and perfect for athletic tobogganists. Open daily from 9am to 4pm.
Accessibility: This sport run is easily accessible, either via the Muttereralm cable cars or on foot. Duration: about 2 hours.
The Stubaitalbahn tram will take you to the climb'S starting point. A large, free car park is available for those who wish to come by car. Catering and Refreshments: The Muttereralm alpine hut is perfect for a break, providing tobogganists with delicious Tyrolean cuisine.
The natural toboggan run extends over a total length of ten kilometres. However, for safety reasons, the lower section is only open when the snow conditions are very good. If the conditions are right, it is possible to run down into the valley to Birgitz, offering tobogganists a particularly long and exciting run.
1st section: Birgitzer Alm to Adelshof
The ascent to the natural toboggan run starts in Axams Adelshof at 1,370 metres above sea level and leads up to the Birgitzer Alm at 1,808 metres above sea level. The ascent takes around 2 hours. The Birgitzer Alm offers a welcome refreshment stop and pleasant refreshments during the tour. The first section of the toboggan run is 3.2 kilometres long and well prepared, making it particularly suitable for families. The descent from the Birgitzer Alm back to Adelshof is a pleasure.
2nd section: Adelshof to Birgitz
If the snow conditions allow, the toboggan run can be continued on the second section from Adelshof to Birgitz. This section is almost 7 kilometres long and offers a much longer and varied descent. If you want to tackle the ascent again from Birgitz, you should reckon with a walking time of around 3 hours.
From the Gleirschalm car park, the first section of the route leads along the toboggan run to the Gleirschbrücke bridge. Directly after the bridge, a footpath branches off to the left through the forest, which rejoins the toboggan run after a short time. From here, continue to the Gleirschalm.
Once at the top, the Gleirschalm invites you to take a cosy break - perfect for a well-earned refreshment after the ascent. Please note the opening times of the Alm!
The toboggan run is floodlit every day in winter, regardless of whether the Alm is open. There is also a toboggan hire service in the village for all those who want to start their tobogganing fun spontaneously.
