The Patscherkofel offers not only for hikers super conditions, but also for bike lovers. Along the forest road we cycle with a fantastic view directly to the summit cross. And even with a guide. Thanks to the summer activity program in Innsbruck at no extra cost.

Start

Our bike guide Nikolaus meets with us already at 09:30 at the parking lot of the old Patscherkofelbahn. After a short round of introductions, he begins with the e-bike training. Followed by a detailed route description and with a motivated Tyrolean "Geh-ma's-an" we then start off.

View of Innsbruck

Our next stop is the Olympia Abfahrt - a ski slope in winter, a green meadow in summer. From here you have a unique view of the upper Inn Valley and Innsbruck. From there we admire the surrounding peaks and alpine pastures which Nikolaus knows all by name. Full of verve we cycle on to the Patscheralm.

Stop on the way at the Patscheralm

Arriving at the Patscheralm, we are already met by the wonderful smell of coffee and other delicacies. Of course, you can not miss a coffee break there. The Patscheralm is located directly on our route and offers a magical view of the Stubaital. With the Stubai Glacier in front of us, we enjoy this beautiful untouched nature. Strengthened, we continue cycling towards the summit cross.

The Patscherkofel

From the Patscheralm we continue cycling comfortably for about half an hour to our destination: the summit of the Patscherkofel with its red and white transmission mast visible from afar. We are all very happy about the summit victory and are greeted with a strong handshake by Nikolaus. The view of Innsbruck is simply breathtaking. By the way: The people of Innsbruck affectionately call the Patscherkofel their "local mountain". It is virtually the alpine front garden and leisure oasis of the city dwellers

Lunch at the Patscherkofel Schutzhaus

We don't take our lunch break directly at the summit, but a short drive downhill at the Patscherkofel Schutzhaus. There you will find Tyrolean home cooking at its best. Whether Kaiserschmarrn for the sweet or Kasspatzl'n for the hearty, there is simply something for everyone.

The descent

Before we set off again in the direction of the valley, Nikolaus shares his tips and tricks for accident-free downhill riding. With a full stomach, we then roll downhill. The descent is megaviel fun and the airstream in the hot temperatures is the absolute highlight. Arrived at the parking lot, we see only happy and satisfied faces that look back on a wonderful day.

Fancy a guided e-bike tour?

My excursion with a bike guide was great. If my report has whetted your appetite to give it a try, check out the website of the guided active program of the Innsbruck region. Here you can find e-bike tours, guided hikes and many highlights for visitors to Innsbruck. Attention: Only for guests of the partner businesses of the Welcome Card Innsbruck, but participation with Welcome Card is free. By the way, the card is also available in winter. Without e-bike tours, but with other highlights.
