Spring in the Innsbruck region is one of those seasons that I look forward to every year. After the long, darker months, it's simply beautiful when nature slowly starts to show its colors again - and in a very special way. I've been out and about with my camera a lot in the last few days, between wintry mountain panoramas, blossoming trees and city squares full of life. The combination of a still wintry Alpine backdrop and the feeling of spring is something you don't find everywhere.

What makes spring special here? It is this experience between the last remnants of snow on the peaks and the first buds down in the valley. While you can still go spring skiing in the morning at Kühtai or Axamer Lizum (as I recently described here), the first fruit trees are already blossoming in the valley and the parks are filling up with people enjoying the sun.

Spring mood in the city

The camera almost takes care of itself during this time - too many beautiful motifs, too much light, which is finally getting warmer again. A stroll through Innsbruck's old town in the evening is particularly atmospheric: the cafés are full, life is slowly starting to take place outside again, and when the evening light touches the colorful facades, you can just tell - spring is here.

The parks are in bloom

Urban parks such as the Hofgarten or the Rapoldipark are also at their best. While some people read a book on a bench or eat an ice cream, children run around in the grass next door. Those who prefer things a little quieter can head to the banks of the Inn at Kranebitten (a district of Innsbruck) - there you can not only enjoy the sun, but also watch the odd plane landing over the mountains. A mixture of nature, technology and relaxation.

Beautiful places near Innsbruck

A walk through Mühlau and Arzl near Innsbruck is also a special experience - for example through the Mühlauer Klamm up and to the Kalvarienberg. There, where you have a wide view over the Inn Valley and the still snow-covered peaks, you can pause for a moment. Perhaps you will think of the legends that surround many of the mountains here - I have captured some of them in the blog post "Picture puzzles in the melting snow". Spring is also always a time for new thoughts, for a change of perspective.

Not to forget: my home community Flaurling. When the cherry and apple trees blossom there and in the background the Hohe Munde and the Mieminger Kette tower in the background, it's a sight that I want to photograph again every year. This mixture of rural idyll and impressive natural scenery is what makes spring in Tyrol so special for me.

Spring in the low mountain range

And the low mountain range, with its places like Oberperfussare now showing their most beautiful side. The paths up there are perfect for a leisurely spring hike - whether you just want to go for a short walk or sit on a sunny bench and let your gaze wander over the Inn Valley. Everything seems a little clearer, fresher and calmer.

Being outside

What I also love: the days are getting longer, the nights more pleasant. You can sit outside in the evening, be it in a café, on a park bench or simply with a blanket on the grass. People feel like going out again - you can tell by the atmosphere in the city. It's lively without being hectic. Simply pleasant.

Spring in Innsbruck is a real highlight - for anyone who likes to be outdoors, with or without a camera. If you have a weekend or a few days to spare, I can only recommend it: Come by, take your time for a walk, a coffee in the sun or a little photo tour. It's worth it.
