SPEED & MOMENTUM

Cycling along the roads of the Inn Valley, through idyllic villages and with wonderful views: the towns and villages in the Innsbruck region offer a wide range of options for more than just mountain biking. The area also provides ideal terrain for road cyclists. Numerous bike paths criss-cross the region. The roads to the surrounding villages are well developed and many places offer paved country roads with little traffic. If you would rather take on some big climbs, there are of course also challenging routes available. However, many are possible with only moderate gains in elevation.

One of the longest and most challenging road bike tours in the Innsbruck area. Conquer the five picturesque tributary valleys that lead off the Wipp Valley in a single day. The route features quiet mountain roads and idyllic alpine guesthouses for stops along the way.

The tour leads south out of Innsbruck through the districts of Pradl and Amras. The route passes Ambras Castle and the villages of Aldrans and Lans before arriving at Patch. From there, it continues along the Römerstraße road to the Wipp Valley. The tour is challenging and has a few steep sections. It covers a total of 2,600 vertical metres and takes riders to some wonderful settings: pristine valleys, alpine views and clear air make this tour a delight.

The tour can be shortened at any time by leaving out one or more of the tributary valleys. Alternatively, anyone with energy to spare can extend the tour from the village of Gries. From the Obernberg Valley, it is possible to do the Brenner Pass, which adds ten kilometres and an additional 200 vertical metres.

Route:

The weather in March will probably not be able to beat the weather of Wednesday: The morning will be sunny, clear and rather chilly. Already, the sun has the same intensity as in mid September and it will therefore be pleasantly mild for the season.

Tendency

This bright weather will last for another few days. There will be a few occasional clouds, but all in all the sun will dominate the sky and produce mild temperatures.
