Clarity, precision and functionality – these are the hallmarks of the ‘Swiss Style’ that emerged in the 1950s and 1960s. It is characterised by the use of grid systems, asymmetrical layouts, sans-serif typefaces and minimalist graphics. Jiri Oplatek from the Basel-based design studio claudiabasel draws heavily on this tradition in his work and is best known for his poster designs for major Swiss cultural institutions.
