At the workshop concert, the audience will not only hear the first notes of "Il pomo d’oro" — the "unperformable" opera — but will also witness the moment when Ottavio Dantone, who reconstructed the missing sections of the score, performs this music with an orchestra before an audience for the very first time.
As a hybrid format combining elements of concert and rehearsal, the workshop concert offers rare insights into the ensemble’s evolving sound and the artistic process that unfolds even before a single note reaches the stage or orchestra pit. How can the diverse timbres of an orchestra be blended into a coherent whole without diminishing the individuality of its players? And how can one discern the sound the composer originally envisioned?
