El sendero Akademikersteig transcurre por bosques entre Götzens y Birgitz. La duración es de unos 45 minutos y la ruta no presenta ninguna dificultad técnica. En Götzens, justo después del supermercado M-Preis, el camino ofrece unas bonitas vistas sobre las ruinas del castillo Vellenberg. El camino forestal acaba en la localidad de Birgitz. Justo antes de abandonar el bosque, posibilidad de hacer un pequeño desvío para visitar las excavaciones de “Hohe Birga”. Otro lugar muy recomendable de visitar es el museo Rätermuseo sitauda en el centro de Birgitz.
El camino se puede hacer también en sentido invertido.
