For me, tobogganing is as much a part of winter as apple sauce is to Kaiserschmarren. And luckily, there are countless opportunities to pursue this hobby around Innsbruck. In this article, I would like to introduce you to two particularly beautiful tobogganing areas: one for the day and one for the night. From sunny winter enjoyment with a stop for refreshments to speedy descents under a starry sky - grab your toboggans, put on your helmets and off you go!

Winter paradise Lehnberghaus

I am delighted to introduce you to the Lehnberghaus , because it is one of my absolute top winter excursion destinations. Why? Firstly, because of its location: the Lehnberghaus is picturesquely situated at 1,553 meters above sea level in the Mieminger mountains. If you don't know the area here, you would never guess that there are so many wonderful touring options on the south side in such a small space around the Lehnberghaus. A true paradise for ski tourers, snowshoe hikers - and of course tobogganers!

Kids approved - tobogganing with the whole family

Which brings us to the next reason why I can only recommend a trip to the Lehnberghaus: The toboggan run is absolutely "Kids approved" - even my boys love it. The ascent takes about an hour and a half and is therefore also manageable for young hikers. The descent itself is not too steep and therefore really family-friendly. However, if children are tobogganing alone, they should already have some experience. The start is at Gasthof Arzkasten, where you can also park (subject to a charge). From there, head into the valley through the forest. After a bridge, keep right and follow the path to a sharp left-hand bend. From here, continue straight on into the valley, with a few gentle bends and a pleasant ascent up to the Lehnberghaus.

Time to enjoy: sun and Kaiserschmarren

Once at the top, the Lehnberghaus has exactly what you want after the ascent: a large sun terrace to enjoy and linger on. While the children romp around in the snow, you can make yourself comfortable here and take in the wintry mountain scenery of the Mieminger mountains. In the rustic restaurant, a heated stove provides cozy warmth, and the menu includes Tyrolean regional delicacies - from hearty cheese dumplings and classic roast pork to Kaiserschmarren as a sweet finish.

Some winter evenings are just too good for the couch ..

We've all been there: the day has been long and exhausting and all you want to do is fall onto the sofa. There's something to it, of course! But it's often not really satisfying. I'm telling you: you can get a lot more out of your evening if you manage to get yourself together, pack your "seven plums" (Austrian for: everything you need) and head to Rangger Köpfl. Because every Tuesday and Friday you have the opportunity to go night tobogganing there!

Tyrol's longest continuous toboggan run

In a nutshell: Rangger Köpfl is the ideal tobogganing area for me at any time of day - and for the whole family. Firstly, it is home to Tyrol's longest continuous toboggan run! If the snow conditions are right - and they are at the moment - you can toboggan from the summit of the Rangger Köpfl down to the valley. But you don't have to, and that's another advantage: the entire route is divided into three toboggan runs(Köpfl1er, Sulzstich2er, Stiglreith3er). This makes it ideal for all skill levels - whether you're a die-hard pro or an absolute beginner. You can also take the gondola to the top in comfort if you wish.

Rangger Köpfl - tobogganing fun guaranteed

I'm generally of the opinion that going uphill is part of the fun of tobogganing. But especially with children - or in the evening after a long day - it is simply incredibly practical to be able to use the gondola. In Oberperfuss, the 8-seater Peter-Anich I and II gondola lifts take you up to around 1,650 meters above sea level. Once at the top, the two floodlit toboggan runs Sulzstich 2er and Stiglreith 3er await you - and the fun can begin!

Tobogganing under the stars

My husband is probably the kind of person who doesn't want to do much exercise after work. So I had to force him to be happy. But after some initial grumbling, he was really into it. Because night tobogganing is simply a very special experience - the energy gets to everyone! Yes, I know it sounds cheesy, but it's simply magical when you're whizzing through a snowy winter wonderland under a starry sky! Somehow it feels almost more intense than during the day. My son thinks so too: When he went to bed, he said: "Mom, I'm sad that it's already over again." Thank goodness winter isn't over yet - and there are still plenty of tobogganing evenings to come!

Sure, spring is sure to come. But until then, we're still enjoying winter to the full - outdoors, in the mountains and preferably in the snow. Whether on (cross-country) skis, a snowboard or a toboggan: the main thing is to have fun!
