A journey through Christmas past
Over 100 years old and still on the move: when it comes to trams, the “Christkindlbahn” in Innsbruck is the ultimate oldie. This vintage tram only operates in the run-up to Christmas and is still in top form thanks to many years of loving care. Experience the charm of winters gone by and add a sparkle to your children’s eyes that rivals even the stunning Christmas lights around the city. A ride on the Christmas tram is a wonderful activity for passengers young and old. And another bonus – it’s free of charge.
Unfortunately, reservations are not possible, but you may board and alight the 'Christkindlbahn' at every stop along its route through the city centre. The main stop for the tram is, naturally, at Innsbruck's central station.
From 25 November - 17 December, Friday - Saturday 3.00 pm - 6.30 pm
The following stops are served:
- Hauptbahnhof (main station, short stop, platform C/Stubaitalbahn)
- Triumphpforte (westbound)
- Anichstraße/Rathausgalerien (westbound)
- Bürgerstraße (direction north)
- Terminal/Marktplatz (eastbound)
- Maria-Theresien-Straße (eastbound)
- Museumstraße (towards the east)
- Landesmuseum (direction east)
The Christkindlbahn departs from Stubaitalbahnhof at 3.00 pm, and from 3.30 pm from Hauptbahnhof every full hour and every half hour until 6.00 pm.
