What happens when ensembles and the music of their homelands meet – otherwise separated by some 750 kilometres between Vesuvius and the Alps? There are the "Talenti Vulcanici" from Naples, a Baroque ensemble whose fiery playing style is as distinctive as its origins. Their music, shaped by the coexistence of pagan ritual and Christian faith, fuses the sacred and the profane: sinners become madonnas, kings lose their way, and Pulcinella laughs at the fate of humankind.
Opposite them stands the Familienmusik Huber from Ahrntal in South Tyrol. They cultivate an "authentic Alpine folk tradition" – youthful, vibrant, yet deeply rooted in ancient custom. Both groups draw upon their heritage, playing for joy, for dance, for the sheer celebration of the moment. And at last, they begin to listen to one another, discovering kinships in sound, style, and instrumentation – exchanging ideas spontaneously and spiritedly, as if in a joyous jam session.
