A family hike in the Axamer Lizum hiking area with great views of the Kalkkögel mountains, the Inn Valley and the Nordkette mountain range. Two options are available for the ascent.

Option 1 (easier and faster): From Axamer Lizum car park, head towards the bottom lift station for Birgitzköpfl and then take the double chairlift (fees apply) up to the Birgitzköpflhaus mountain hut.

Option 2 (longer route): From Axamer Lizum car park, head towards the bottom lift station of the Birgitzköpfllift chairlift and then continue to the avalanche barrier. From there, a quite steep path turns off to the left and leads uphill to the Birgitzköpflhaus mountain hut (walking time about 1.25 hours, 460 vertical metres). From there, a trail leads downhill to the right, below the Zwölferspitze and Pfriemeswand peaks, towards Muttereralm (walking time about 45 min, 429 vertical metres). The route then continues, following signs to the Götzner Alm mountain hut (walking time about 30 min, 66 vertical metres) and the Birgitzeralm mountain hut (walking time about 45 min, 266 vertical metres).

To return to the starting point, follow the route slightly downhill along the Butterbründlsteig towards Axamer Lizum. Total walking time: about 3.5 hours (from the bottom of the Birgitzköpfllift chairlift)
