Ski touring recommendations

This page will give you some ideas for ski tours in the region of Innsbruck. A great way to get a wonderful insight into the wonders of winter, especially under good conditions. These are, of course, only suggestions, as the final responsibility lies with the tourer to inform him or herself about current conditions before setting out.

Ski touring is a sport in which the risks should never be underestimated. We cannot accept any responsibility for snow conditions, avalanche risks and other outside influences. Every ski tourer is responsible for their own adequate avalanche protection and should check all current conditions with Tyrol's Avalanche Warning Service.

This ski tour begins at the Glungezer Bahn cable-car valley station and follows the ski path to the bend in the road. Heading striaght uphill, cross the road before reaching a steep and narrow section of the piste. From here, turn right towards Telfer Hütte alpine hut. Follow the edge of the piste to Gasthaus Halsmarter. By taking a right at the start of the flat section, you'll reach Tulfein Alm alpine hut via the ski path. The tour continues onwards to the top station of the Glungezer T-bar lift. Stay on the piste at an altitude of 2,100m, before turning right along the Schäferhütten piste towards the shepherd's hut. The rest of the way to Glungezer Hütte alpine hut is signposted. Just before reaching the hut, a broken section of the route has been secured with a rope. From the hut, it's just a couple of minutes further to the Glungezer summit and the Sonnenspitze peak.

Forecast

We can breathe a sigh of relief that the period of bad weather is over now! Nevertheless, the transition from rain to nice weather is usually smooth. Although we will get more sun than clouds today, perfect sunshine is not expected just yet. There might even be one or two short showers in the afternoon and in the evening.

Tendency

The area of high pressure that built over Europe yesterday will stay with us for quite a long time. Together with warm air, it will ensure bright summer weather for the time being.
