Mountain bike tours

TOURS, TRAILS & CHEESE DUMPLINGS

That is mountain biking in Innsbruck. First you pedal hard uphill. Then you enjoy a summer bike stop at one of the many mountain huts and alpine restaurants that are often located right on the route or may even be your destination. Refuelling à la Innsbruck: Kaspressknödel cheese dumplings. Are your calves burning? If so, simply relax and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains a little longer before getting back on the saddle.

A scenic tour for anyone who loves quiet tributary valleys.

The tour starts in the village of Ellbögen and runs south of Patscherkofel, Innsbruck's local mountain. There are two possible starting points for reaching the Profeglalm mountain hut.

1st starting point: the car park at the recycling centre in Ellbögen. Follow the paved road uphill to the Zirbenhof and then turn left and follow the gravel road towards Meissnerhaus/ Profeglalm until you reach the 2nd starting point: the car park for the Zirbenhof / Hackschnitzellager wood chip storage facility. From there, follow the gravel road as it leads gently uphill towards Meissnerhaus/Profeglalm. The route starts on mountain bike route no. 503 and leads to a crossing where you turn left towards the Meissner Haus. From there, you continue straight on and therefore leave MTB route 503. This forest road takes you up around 3 hairpin bends to your destination, the Profeglalm mountain hut. The hut is a nice place to take a break and enjoy a bite to eat. During the summer months, you should expect to meet cattle along the route. Route length from the 1st starting point: 8.4 km, from the 2nd starting point: 6.8 km
