In the early 1930s, Anton Hörtnagl (1905–1957) built the house at Richtergasse 8 in Axams, set up a studio there and tried to establish himself as a sculptor. Following his untimely death, in the early 1960s the academic artist Edmund Puchner (1932–2014) used the studio for an indefinite period. Between 1970 and 1977, the sculptor Josef Zeisler (born 1948) leased the workshop. The exhibition RICHTERGASSE 8 tells the story of this place, which still exists but whose history has almost been forgotten, and showcases three very different artistic personalities and their works. The exhibition is curated by Josef Zeisler’s daughter and Edmund Puchner’s niece, the musician Maria Ma, and by Edmund Puchner’s widow, the Earth system scientist Gabriele Harrer-Puchner.
