Which restaurants in Innsbruck are open on Sundays? The fact that it is not easy to find a restaurant open on Sundays in Innsbruck has a lot to do with culture and tradition. Sunday was originally regarded as a "day of rest", an idea that still has an impact today. Many restaurant owners therefore deliberately give their staff a break on this day.
Nevertheless, there are restaurants both in the city center and outside that also open their doors on Sundays. I set out to visit some of these restaurants in Innsbruck that are open on Sundays. Here you will find a handful of restaurants that I can highly recommend and that also offer traditional Austrian cuisine on Sundays.
In the city center
A very central location and many varied options can be found right in the city center of Innsbruck.
Restaurant and hotel Sailer
Let's start with what is probably one of the oldest restaurants in Innsbruck. The restaurant and hotel Sailer will be celebrating 130 years in 2026 and for good reason. The concept on Sundays is based on a regular menu that is available throughout the day. Seasonal and special menus are also offered. Spring, for example, is asparagus season. The wood-paneled parlors and lovingly decorated rooms add another plus point to the culinary experience.
Open on Sundays from 11:30 to 13:45 and 18:00 to 21:30.

Gasthaus Goldenes Dachl
It couldn't be more central: the restaurant of the same name is located directly in front of the Golden Roof. Anyone who has always been looking for a large selection of different schnitzel variations is guaranteed to find a favorite here, even with vegetarian options! Tyrolean cuisine has been rethought at the Goldenes Dachl restaurant and in addition to the classic spazln, roasts and dumplings, there are also vegetarian and vegan alternatives.
Open Sunday from 11:00 to 23:00.
Burenwirt
A dumpling with soup for starters, deliciously crispy schnitzel and nutty Kernöl. On the menu at the Burenwirt in Dorfgasse in Hötting, you really will find all the traditional Austrian dishes you are familiar with. In addition to a hearty main meal, the menu of this rustic restaurant also invites hikers returning home to enjoy a Brettljause or Schmalzbrot. It's the perfect place to refuel on a Sunday after a hike or for dinner. Also very popular: Schnitzel with pumpkin seed breading, also available in spicy.
Open on Sundays from 16:00 to 00:00.
Die Wilderin
A new take on Tyrolean cuisine! In Seilergasse in Innsbruck's old town, they cook what the region has to offer. Here, seasonal and sustainable simply means: no peppers in January and no fillet at any time. However, the Wilderin doesn't just cook consciously, the liquids are also celebrated with the same attitude. The menu on Sundays is therefore not based on countries or themes, but solely on what the respective season brings to the plate.
Open on Sundays from 17:00 to 00:00.

Worth a stroll
Even away from the often turbulent center of Innsbruck, you will find numerous places that are open on Sundays. And even if they are not, it is sometimes worth taking a short walk, as it is not uncommon to come across an open café or restaurant by chance.
Gasthaus Bierstindl
Anyone who has visited the Bergisel or the Bergisel Museum first will already have one foot in the Bierstindl. The traditional Bierstindl restaurant in Innsbruck's Wilten district is invitingly large and has a beautiful garden right in front of it. All the classic Tyrolean dishes can be found on this menu. From Tyrolean cheese dumplings to farmer's gröstl and apple strudel for dessert, every traditional dish is included. "Da Erdäpfl" with chili sin carne can also be ordered vegan. If you still have time, you can round off the afternoon/evening with live music.
Open Sunday from 11:00 to 23:00
Even more choice close to the center
The selection is not limited to just a handful of restaurants. The following restaurants and pubs in Innsbruck are also open on Sundays:
- Stiftskeller: Very central and large selection
from 10:00 to 23:00 - Bretterkeller: authentic, popular with the locals
from 10:00 to 22:00 - Restaurant Goldener Adler: traditional restaurant in the old town
open from 11:30 to 22:00. - Restaurant Das Innsbruck: in the hotel of the same name, very good quality
from 12:00 to 22:00 - Ottoburg: traditional dishes with magnificent views of the Inn and the Golden Roof
from 11:30 to 14:30 and from 18:00 to 22:30

Riese Haymon
It's not just parties and celebrations that are celebrated at Riesen Haymon, Sundays can also be enjoyed to the full with culinary delights. Fish, vegetarian dishes, wholesome meals and hearty meat dishes - there really is nothing left to be desired. The hot kitchen opens at 11.30 am and closes at 9 pm, so you could spend the whole Sunday there. Very popular traditional restaurant, reservations recommended!
Open Sunday from 10:00 to 22:00
Planötzenhof Inn
If you haven't been to the mountains on a Sunday, but still want to see the beautiful mountain panorama around Innsbruck, you absolutely must visit the Planötzenhof. The traditional family-run inn above Innsbruck is known for its authentic Tyrolean cuisine with regional and farm produce from its own farm. In addition to the cozy atmosphere, which is particularly welcoming to families, the Planötzenhof offers an impressive panoramic view of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains. This makes it a popular excursion destination for locals and guests alike. Very idyllic both for parties and spontaneously after a hike.
