Kaufhaus Tyrol

100 years of history in a modern setting. The shopping centre was built when Austria was still ruled by emperors. Today, it shines with a new splendour and was even voted the most beautiful shopping centre in Europe in 2011. The centre features 50 shops located on various galleries over several floors. The shops sell leather goods, designer jeans, fashion items, sports clothing and electronics. However, it’s also worth taking a look at Kaufhaus Tyrol if you don’t want to buy anything – the shopping centre is a breathtaking sight to behold thanks to the renovation by renowned architect David Chipperfield.
The food court in the basement offers delicious delights from sushi to pizza, as well as a supermarket with everything you need for you stay. Star architect David Chipperfield is to thank for the shopping centre’s modern appearance. He created the modern, open building in collaboration with a team of architects led by Dieter Mathoi. The contemporary design is seamlessly combined with the tradition of the centre’s historical predecessor from 1908, creating a magnificent setting for a wonderful shopping experience in the heart of Innsbruck.
