Learn more

Learn more about Tyrolean life in the Stone Age, the Middle Ages, or during the times of folk hero Andreas Hofer! The Tyrolean State Museum contains extensive collections on many various themes, e.g., early history, art and art history, cartography and everyday life. The results of archaeological excavations in Tyrol are all on display here. There are even paintings, information about the history of mining, and much more.

The State Museum also contains instruments designed and made by the renowned Tyrolean violin maker Jakob Stainer, whose instruments were as highly coveted as those of Stradivarius. Art lovers can view paintings from artists such as Lucas Cranach the Elder, Rembrandt, Franz Defregger, Albin Egger-Lienz and Max Weiler.

Information on accessibility: The house is barrier-free accessible. The entrance for wheelchair users is located in the rear courtyard. Inside, all areas are stepless and easily accessible. A barrier-free toilet is also available.
