Located at the northern entrance to Innsbruck's old town, the Ottoburg can be recognised from afar. This is due to the striking architecture of the late Gothic building, which features numerous bay windows and red-white-red painted wooden shutters. The history of the building, which is one of the oldest preserved in the Tyrolean capital and a listed building, goes back centuries. Once a residential tower and part of the city wall, the Ottoburg now houses a restaurant that serves local specialities in the historic parlours with their magnificent cross and star vaults. The bronze monument ‘Father and Son’, which was created by the artist Christian Plattner and commemorates the Tyrolean fight for freedom, is located in front of the walls, some of which are entwined with ivy.
