The Alpine Adventure Playground
The mountain in the heart of Innsbruck. Just a couple of minutes from the city centre to the largest nature reserve in Austria!
The Nordkette is the ideal place for visitors, sun worshippers, and action and adrenaline lovers. Plenty of winter sport highlights await you at the Seegrube and Hafelekar alpine huts!
Hafelekar is where every freerider's heartrate begins to quicken. The unbelievable view over the city in the valley below, combined with the seemingly-endless, squeezed-together peaks of the surrounding mountainscape, and the Hafelekar tracks, leave unforgettable impressions behind.
Steep, steeper, Karrinne! The Hafelekarrinne couloir counts as one of the steepest ski runs in Europe. With a gradient of 70%, the slope is best tackled by experienced experts. On perfect powder-snow days you're more likely to meet some of the locals on the Nordkette mountains than in their offices.
Sports legends such as Mitch Tölderer and Flo Orley learned their craft here and went on to call the shots among the world's best freeriders (Freeride World Tour). Newcomers to the sport of freeriding who would like to experience the ultimate thrill offered by Innsbruck's freeriding scene are advised to do so accompanied by an experienced guide.
A further highlight at the Seegrube hut is the CLOUD 9 Igloo Bar - THE hotspot for sun worshippers and for those who enjoy the good life. With artistically-designed indoor and outdoor bars, and cosy blankets and sheepskins, CLOUD 9 is the ideal place to meet up for an afternoon drink after an eventful 'powder day' or to start the weekend with a bang with a CLOUD 9 Party, where not only hot beats are mixed, but also cool drinks and warm specials, such as the legendary Hot Caipi.
The Nordkette is not only an amazing backdrop, but also a unique adventure playground!
