The modern 10-seater Patscherkofelbahn gondola lift takes you in comfort from Igls directly up to the Olympic mountain - at an altitude of over 1,900 metres with panoramic views of more than 400 mountain peaks. The Patscherkofel in the south-east of Innsbruck is not only a striking vantage point, but also a historic venue for several Olympic Winter Games and Youth Games.
In summer, the mountain station is an ideal starting point for a hike along the famous Zirbenweg trail towards the Glungezer - a leisurely high-altitude trail through centuries-old Swiss stone pine forests with magnificent views over the Inntal valley. If you want to go higher, you can reach the summit in around two hours. The nearby Alpine Garden of the University of Innsbruck, the highest botanical garden in Austria, provides fascinating insights into the Alpine flora. Mountain bikers and trail runners will also find well-signposted routes on the Patscherkofel in scenic surroundings.
In winter, the Patscherkofel is transformed into a versatile ski area with wide pistes, a snow park, training race track and marked routes for ski tourers. Well-maintained winter hiking trails invite you to take a peaceful break in the snow. Numerous huts and mountain pastures provide refreshment stops with a view all year round.
